Steve Shelton

MSc (Geology), AIG
Exploration Manager

Steve Shelton is a geologist with 30 years experience in minerals exploration and mining, both in Australia and overseas. He has successfully explored for a range of commodities including gold, basemetals, manganese, nickel and uranium, and was instrumental in the discovery of two substantial gold mines in Western Australia. He has held senior positions in both major and junior mining companies, managing exploration from grassroots to reserve definition/feasibility study. Recent roles included Exploration Manager for Perseus Mining Ltd (West Africa and Central Asia), and Managing Director of Liberty Resources Ltd.

Mr Shelton holds a Master of Science in Exploration and Mining Geology from James Cook University of North Queensland, and a Diploma in Applied Finance and Investment from the Financial Services Institute of Australasia. He is a member of the Australian Institute of Geoscientists (AIG).

Marlene Kelly

BSc (Hons), AIG
Consultant Geologist

Marlene Kelly graduated from University of Natal (South Africa) with Honours in Geology and is a member of the Australian Institute of Geoscientists (AIG); she has worked in South Africa, Zimbabwe and Western Australia where she has had exposure to a variety of geological environments including Achaean Cu-Au, Proterozoic and Achaean Iron, Massive Nickel Sulphide, Diamonds and Mineral Sands.

Ms Kelly has also worked in a variety of supervising roles including Senior Geologist Gold with North Limited (Kalgoorlie), Manager - BHP’s Diamond laboratory (Perth), Exploration Manager with Golden West Resources Ltd (Iron Ore) and Consulting Geologist; she has in excess of 30 years experience.

Marina Watts

Geologist

Marina Watts is a geologist with 25 years experience in minerals exploration and mining geology. She has been directly involved with a number of significant mineral discoveries and mines, and has worked in a range of commodities including gold, uranium, nickel, basemetals, and diamonds. She has had particular experience in project management, project generation and research.

Ms Watts holds a Bachelor of Science in Geology from Macquarie University (NSW), a Diploma of Gemmology, and a Graduate Diploma in Education. She is a fellow member of the Gemmological Association of Australia, and a member of the Australian Institute of Geoscientists (AIG).

Gregory Whitfield

MSc, BSc, Dip (Gemmology)
Senior Geologist

An international exploration and mining geologist for more than 35 years, Gregory Whitfield has worked in a number of geological terrains with gold, diamond and base metals discoveries in Western Australia, Ghana, Ecuador, Somalia and the Northern Territory.

He acquired gold properties in Australia and Fiji and raised $4 million with Esmeralda for exploration and has a focus on ore tonnes in all mining operations, as well as encouraging team work in mining enterprises.

Gregory is proficient in all phases of mining project management and has broad technical experience in a range of geological techniques including mapping, petrology, mineralogy, geophysics, geochemistry, diamond and percussion drilling and ore reserve calculations.
